AUTHORS NOTE:
This is exactly what destroys Iraq’s reputation internationally and keeps the country trapped in endless instability. Iraq should be known for rebuilding, development, education, culture, and economic growth after decades of suffering. Instead, the world keeps seeing headlines connecting Iraqi militias to terrorism investigations, foreign attacks, and Iran-linked extremist networks.
And honestly, I am furious that Iraq keeps getting dragged into this nightmare because of militias that act like they are above the state itself. These groups claim ideological and religious legitimacy while turning Iraq into a country constantly associated with weapons, militias, sanctions, and regional conflict. What normal future can Iraq build when armed factions tied to Iran continue operating with this level of influence and global attention?
The worst part is that ordinary Iraqis pay the price for all of this while politicians keep pretending everything is under control. Iraqis are the ones who suffer from the destroyed reputation, foreign distrust, security fears, economic pressure, and international isolation that comes from these militia networks. Young Iraqis want jobs, stability, and a future, but instead they inherit a country where the state constantly appears weaker than armed ideological factions linked to external powers.
At some point people need to stop pretending this is sustainable. No country can fully recover while militias with external loyalties continue overshadowing the authority of the government and dragging Iraq deeper into regional and international crises. Iraq deserves to be a sovereign state, not a platform for Iran’s proxy networks and ideological wars.
ARTICLE:
On 16 May 2026, U.S. authorities announced terrorism-related charges against Iraqi national Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, described by prosecutors as a senior member of the Iran-backed militia Kata'ib Hezbollah. According to the U.S. Justice Department, Al-Saadi was accused of coordinating or supporting nearly 20 attacks and attempted attacks in Europe and North America, including operations targeting American and Israeli-linked sites. Prosecutors stated that the alleged activities were connected to networks associated with Iran-backed militant structures operating across the region. The suspect was detained in Turkey before being transferred to U.S. custody. The case immediately drew international attention because it linked an Iraqi militia figure to alleged international extremist plots beyond the Middle East.
About
This platform is run by one person, but it carries the voices of many. It exists for the people of Iraq who live in fear, who cannot speak freely, and whose stories are often ignored or erased. With limited resources but deep responsibility, I report on government and power not for influence or profit, but because truth still matters. When silence is forced, this space chooses to speak — carefully, bravely, and with humanity.
